Bebe Au Lait started as a company that predominately sold nursing covers and has now expanded to include swaddle blankets, car seat covers, snuggle blankets, hooded towels, etc. I was initially drawn to their swaddles because of the endearing patterns they use. They have sweet patterns for boys and gorgeous floral prints for girls. In particular I was taken by the gender neutral Love + Luna collection. “I love You to the Moon and Back” is a saying that my mother and I said to one another, and now I say it to my son. The swaddles are made out of breathable cotton muslin that gets softer with each wash. These are one of my favorite swaddles because of how cozy they get when washed. Somehow they seem thick and fluffy after being washed while still being light enough for a summer evening.
Why Swaddle?
It is no secret that one of the best ways to help a newborn sleep is to swaddle them. Wrapping a newborn snugly with their arms at their sides eliminates the Moro reflex (this reflex is why when there is a loud noise newborns throw their arms out and cry). Additionally, the tight wrap reminds babies of the safety and security they felt when in mommy’s womb.
Ok, now which swaddle to buy?
These muslin swaddles are extra-large in size 47″x47″ making them a perfect size for newborns babies of all sizes. Then once your child outgrows the need for swaddling these swaddles make a wonderful summer blanket, nursing cover, or car seat cover.
